3.  Shure Extends Rebates for 700 MHz Wireless Systems.

Shure announced they would extend their 700 MHz Trade-In Program to December 31, 2009. The Trade-in and Trade-up Your Wireless program is for up to $1,000 for the trade-in of Shure 700 MHz frequency band (698-806 MHz) wireless systems and for any other manufacturers’ qualifying 700 MHz frequency band wireless system and their related components until the end of the calendar year – to December 31, 2009.

Because of the economic slow down many customers have not been able to take advantage of this program and Shure wanted to do what they could to help so the decision was made to extend this wonderful program.

Customers may submit their rebate forms with the purchase of the following new replacement products: UHF-R, ULX, MX690/SLX4L, PSM700 (H3, L2 bands), and PGX.

"Despite the fact that a final decision from the FCC is still pending, we want our customers to know that we’re here to help." said Mark Humrichouser, General Manager of Shure’s Americas Business Unit.

To reiterate, there are just 3 easy steps to the program.

1. Purchase a qualifying new Shure Wireless System and, if applicable, qualifying Shure components.

2. Your United Visual representative will provide you with a form to complete and return to Shure, along with the other required documentation.

3. Send in your qualifying trade-in 700 MHz frequency band wireless system and, if applicable, qualifying trade-in components via UPS.

Your United Visual account manager will offer you assistance with the process.

4.  Middle Atlantic’s New UPS System is Ideal For Critical Uptime.

The new UPS from Middle Atlantic Products ensures reliability in the most critical security installations backed by an industry-leading 3-year warranty.  Developed with the integrated systems in mind, the UPS features an easy-to-install design and benefits security applications with extended run times for critical loads.

The UPS features an ultra-fast four-millisecond transfer time that prevents system disruptions and equipment lockup.  It also incorporates high-capacity, heavy-duty batteries to provide longer runtimes.

Expansion Battery Pack options are available to meet extreme backup runtime requirements, while 8 surge-protected outlets protect connected equipment from damaging surges and spikes.  Four of these protected outlets are purposed for critical loads––in the event of an extended power outage, the system can shed power to non-critical loads, extending run time for critical connected equipment.

A sliding rear rack rail mount with unique 4-point support provides single-person UPS mounting capability.  The fast and easy installation functionality of the UPS simplifies rack integration in any kind of security setting.

In addition to extremely quiet operation, the UPS features Middle Atlantic’s effective Energy Saver Circuitry which, under normal circumstances, reduces power consumption 75% compared to traditional UPS designs, providing greater efficiency and minimizing the system’s carbon footprint.

The UL-Listed UPS is available in 15 and 20 Amp configurations and features compact dimensions to integrate into smaller racks and enclosures.  Its intuitive management software provides system status notification and automatic system shutdown as required.

For technical specifications and in-depth information about UPS, please give us a call, and gain peace of mind.

5.  Sharp Enters The Short-Throw Market With A New DLP BrilliantColor Professional Projector.

Maximize your meeting space!
Sharp’s new PG-F267X achieves a 100-inch diagonal image from a distance of just 4.3 feet!

Sharp is now shipping its first short-throw DLP BrilliantColor professional projector, combining the high brightness and convenience of a short-throw design with the high image quality and reliability of BrilliantColor DLP technology.  Ideal for interactive presentations, the PG-F267X simplifies projector placement in classrooms and meeting rooms with limited space, achieving a 100-inch diagonal image from a distance of just 4.3 feet.  Designed for the conference/classroom market, this projector offers a short-throw design, superior color accuracy and enhanced inputs including a RJ-45 LAN terminal for remote access and diagnosis.

With the availability of Sharp’s first short-throw product, we can offer a high quality presentation solution for almost any type of location, from large boardrooms and conference rooms to small meeting rooms and classrooms with limited space.  The new PG-F267X increases Sharp’s presence in the education market, providing a high brightness projector for smaller presentation spaces and easy steps for operation that teachers and business professionals will appreciate.

Short-Throw Design - The PG-F267X offers a short throw design to permit large screen images to be projected from an exceptionally short throw distance -- a 100-inch diagonal image from the distance of only 4.3 feet from the screen or a 60-inch diagonal image from only 2.7 feet from the screen.  This eliminates shadows that can occur on the screen caused by the presenter being in the light path of the projector.  It also helps to avoid the projector lamp shining in the eyes of the presenter.

BrilliantColor and Sophisticated Image Quality - The new PG-F267X projector features high brightness of 2500 ANSI Lumens and 2200:1 contrast ratio for a clear picture in virtually any lighting condition, and provides XGA native resolution (1024x768) for clear and accurate images.  For superior color accuracy, the projector features a six-segment color wheel and DLP BrilliantColor technology for truer, more vibrant colors.  BrilliantColor can enable up to a fifty percent increase in mid tones and expands the color palette beyond red/green/blue to include yellow, white, magenta and cyan for more realistic and lifelike color reproduction.

Flexibility and Ease of Use - At just 7.5 pounds, the PG-F267X projector can easily ceiling or wall mount .  Or it can be carried from classroom to classroom or boardroom to conference room and operated on a table top or AV cart.  The projector also offers several features for simple setup and ease of use.  The on-screen guide and "help" function ensures simple setup and operation and a quick start feature requires only approximately three seconds at start up to project an image.  With direct power off switching, the teacher or corporate presenter can unplug and move the projector immediately after use.  This also helps control the power for multiple projectors simultaneously by using the room’s primary power switch in conjunction with the auto restart function.  A wireless remote includes full wireless mouse control, a built-in spot light function and an on-screen pointer to help during presentations.  The unit also includes a closed caption function.

The PG-F267X employs ultra-quiet cooling fans with a front exhaust engine to reduce distracting fan noise to an almost unnoticeable level.  DLP projector owners also enjoy lower cost of ownership and longer projector lifespan thanks to the DLP sealed system with filter that prevents dust and dirt common in classroom environments from entering core parts of the optics.

Extensive Connectivity and Theft Prevention - For networked schools and meeting centers, the Sharp PG-F267X projector offers an RJ-45 LAN network connection with security monitoring that can send an email to the administrator’s PC in the event that the LAN connection breaks.  The LAN connection permits remote access by web browser for diagnostics and the ability to link to a specific web site for service and support.  Sharp’s free downloadable Sharp Display Manager Software allows for multiple projector management over a network and monitoring for theft protection.  Additional theft prevention is provided by a system lock function and an optional security cable kit for ceiling-mounted projectors.

The PG-F267X affords a wide array of inputs and outputs for use in connecting to laptop and desktop computers, DVD Players, cable and satellite boxes, HDTV tuners, VCRs and video game consoles.  In addition to its standard analog RGB/component and audio/video input terminals, inputs are provided for a DVI-I analog/digital source with HDCP compliance which provides secure, virtually noise-free digital connection.  A built in audio system is provided, along with variable audio line-out (for use with powered loudspeakers or a larger external sound system), RGB loop-through output, RS-232C and USB for mouse control.

The PG-F267X is backed by a two-year parts and labor limited warranty including two years of Sharp’s industry-leading 24-hour turnaround "ER" Express Repair support.  The warranty on the user-replaceable projection lamp is 90 days.

The PG-F267Xis now available from United Visual.

6.  Extron New DVI Twisted Pair Extender Now Shipping.

Extron Electronics has announced the immediate availability of their new DVI 201xi Tx Twisted Pair Extender.  The DVI 201xi Tx enables DVI or HDMI signals to be carried over distances significantly greater than with standard DVI cables. It works together with an Extron DVI 201 or DVI 201 A D Twisted Pair Receiver and two CAT 5-type cables to send single link DVI or HDMI signals over 200 feet (60 meters) for HDTV and XGA (1024x768). The DVI 201xi Tx offers several features to optimize system integration for DVI signal transmission, including EDID Minder which automatically manages EDID communication between the input source and the display, automatic input equalization which allows for the use of long DVI input cables by compensating for signal loss, and a rack-mountable 1U, half rack width metal enclosure.

The DVI 201xi Tx joins Extron’s line of DVI Twisted Pair Extenders, offering our UV customers a cost-effective way for extending DVI signals long distances. More significantly, with EDID Minder and automatic input equalization, this product is specifically designed to help improve reliability and performance in installations incorporating DVI signal transmissions.

The DVI 201xi Tx includes several additional features to facilitate convenient, streamlined system integration. A DVI loop-through supports monitoring on a local display. RS-232 or IR signals from a third-party control system can also be transmitted over the same cabling as the DVI signals, providing remote control of a projector or flat-panel display. Furthermore, a DVI 201 or DVI 201 A D receiver attached to the DVI 201xi Tx can be remotely powered over this cabling, so that external power is necessary only at the transmitter location.

9.  NEC Display Solutions Continues To Deliver Top-Notch Technology!

The NP 905 NEC includes critical elements that many of our clients are looking for in corporate environments:  Wi-Fi, remote desktop connection, lamp-saver technology and RVA, S-Video and HDMI capabilities.

In a recent test for 17 different measurements of performance, including calibration patterns that examined its grayscale, color, noise and more of the NP 905 using DisplayMate's calibration software, the NP 905 projected crisp, sharp detail, looking at PowerPoint slides and video -- meaning it has the essentials down pat.

The projector weighs in at about 8 pounds, 2 ounces, measures 12 by 11 by roughly 5 inches, and comes in white and gray.

Because it's got both wired and wireless networking capability, as well as on-board audio, the NP 905 measures up not only as a portable projector, but also as an "integration" class device too.  Networking is intuitive, and audio quality is workmanlike.  Think: Smaller workgroup conferencing solution.

The back of the NP 905 demonstrates just how flexible of a device it can be.  The projector provides a USB 2.0 slot, an HDMI slot, Ethernet port, wireless card, audio in and audio out and input from two PCs. All work well.

The bottom line:  The NEC NP 905 provides value -- as well as the flexibility needed for companies that may be altering networking configurations, conference room configurations, or more, during build outs, moves or consolidations.  For further questions, contact your United Visual representative.

10.  Da-Lite Launches Innovative Projection Screens for Post Production and Commercial Applications.

Da-Lite Screen Company and Joe Kane Productions recently announced a joint effort for the post production and commercial markets.  Da-Lite Screen Company and Joe Kane Productions have launched a new line of projection screens targeted to post production and commercial facilities.  The new JKP Affinity Screen series has been developed specifically for high definition 1080p projectors featuring the latest in optical technology.

As the technology in today’s 1080p and higher resolution projectors continues to increase and the optics became more sophisticated, there is a definite need for a new projection screen.  A screen that can meet the demands of the post production market and other high resolution commercial applications such as mission control centers, flight simulation, broadcast studios and museums.  With the move away from small monitors in television and film editing suites to larger telecine bays using two piece projection, Da-Lite was able to respond with the innovative HD Progressive material used in the JKP Affinity Screen series.

The new JKP Affinity Screens are a breakthrough in low ambient light projection screen technology.  The HD Progressive material produces an extremely uniform image required by editors in the post production market as they edit high definition television shows and films.  Initial post production installations have allowed editors to observe the detail inherent in the filming process never noticed before, resulting in better images for broadcast and theaters.  As higher resolution becomes more prevalent in commercial applications, the JKP Affinity Screen series will provide the same high definition detail, thereby enhancing the projected image.

The initial commercial distribution of the JKP Affinity Screen series will be through qualified audio visual integrators like United Visual.  For more information on the innovative new JKP Affinity Screen series, contact your United Visual representative.
