Smart Technologies Smart Board 680 does more than ever before!

SMART Technologies SMART Board interactive whiteboard was selected as the Best Buy of 2007 by PC World magazine.  After extensive trials, judges concluded that the SMART Board 680 interactive whiteboard (77" diagonal) was superior to other interactive whiteboards in both performance and operation.  Features such as easy installation and intuitive interface, and the flexibility and richness of Notebook collaborative learning software were noted as strong product elements.  Judges also noted features that made the SMART Board interactive whiteboard unique in its category, such as touch capability so users can write, drag and drop files, browse the Web and save files using their fingers.  Another difference was the pens.  Competitive products require electromagnetic pens which need regular battery replacement.  SMART's Whisper-tip™ pens do not require batteries.  We love hearing from our customers and recent feedback has been that the Notebook software is helpful for illustrating ideas and enhancing discussions through its embedded Gallery, which houses thousands of digital resources.

SMART Makes Five New Product Announcements.

SMART Technologies announced two new interactive whiteboards, new interactive pen displays, an upgrade to Bridgit conferencing software and GoWire, an auto-launch cable.

The new interactive whiteboards are the SMART Board 600i and 690.  The 600i combines the SMART whiteboard with a new Unifi projector with built-in audio.  The projector mounts on the wall above the whiteboard so it stays out of the way of the presenter.  It has Vikuiti Super Close Projection technology with XGA resolution so it gives a nice short throw distance.  The 690 is the largest screen size available from SMART, with a 94-inch surface and 16:9 aspect ratio.

The Sympodium UD350 and ID370 interactive pen displays lets a presenter touch the battery-free tethered pen to the LCD screen to launch and control applications on a SMART interactive whiteboard.  The new models have a bezel-less writing surface, two high-speed USB hubs and the latest SMART Board software.  The ID350 has a 15-inch display and the ID370 a 17-inch displays.

SMART's Bridgit 3.1 conferencing software now lets Mac users participate in web conferences, and the GoWire auto-launch cable lets users get full access to SMART Board software without having to install the software on the computer.  The GoWire is a software-enabled, USB cable that automatically launches the software upon connection to a computer.

SMART Introduces 32-Inch Interactive Overlay

SMART Technologies introduced a new overlay in its Actalyst interactive digital signage product line (the line has sizes up to 65 inches).  The new 32-inch overlay lets you add interactive functionality to flat panels and can be used in portrait or landscape, and SMART says it supports panels from NEC, Samsung, LG, Panasonic and Toshiba, with others to follow.

The Actalyst interactive digital signage line used with a flat-panel display is most often used as a way for people to find information in public places.  They walk up to the product and use a finger to navigate multimedia content.  SMART targets retail stores, office buildings, real-estate developments, museums, hotels and shopping malls.  They use SMART's DViT technology which uses cameras embedded in the overlay rather than pressure technology.
