1.  Say Goodbye to HDMI Lag with AMX's New Optima 8x8 HDMI Switcher.

AMX's new Instagate technology mitigates the painful switching lags of a typical HDMI switcher.  The product solves the big HDMI switching lag that haunts other switchers.  In a recent demo AMX showed how quickly a display responds when an HDMI source is switched -- about one second.  And there is no disruption to other displays connected to the switcher.

With other switchers, you'd suffer through a 7- or 10-second delay while the TV re-authenticates HDCP, but the AMX unit is continuously validating all of the connections.  AMX calls the switching technology "Instagate".

It is also employed in AMX’s new UTPro 0808 switcher, which is a full-blown AMX NetLinx control system, HDMI switcher and whole-house Cat 5 distribution system.  It ships with the eight NetLinx end points to connect to remote TVs.

The best part about the UTPro compared to its competitors is the fact that it is extremely affordable.  How affordable?  Find out about this and more about the Optima 8x8 HDMI switcher by calling your United Visual representative!

3.  Shure Introduces Professional Headphones for Studio and Home Recording.

New SRH840, SRH440, and SRH240 Offer Unparalleled Audio Performance, Comfort, and Durability

Shure recently introduced three new professional headphone models, the Company’s first over-the-ear headphones designed specifically for studio applications.  The SRH840, SRH440, and SRH240 join Shure’s lineup of professional and home recording equipment, including the recently introduced X2u, XLR-to-USB Signal Adapter and PG27USB and PG42USB Side Address Condenser Microphones to offer a complete recording package for studio engineers, musicians, and home recording enthusiasts.  Building on more than 84 years of delivering premium audio experiences, Shure’s Professional Headphones offer unparalleled audio quality, ergonomics, and durability.

Traditionally, the market for professional headphones has been limited to recording studios and production houses.  However, the proliferation of portable listening devices, user-generated content, and home recording studios has increased demand for affordable, professional quality recording gear.  Shure Professional Headphones achieve a masterful balance between comfort, durability, and rich lows, warm mids, and crisp highs.  The SRH840, SRH440, and SRH240 each have a unique sound signature, and offer home recordists, performing artists, and studio engineers premium sound quality for a variety of uses – from active listening to critical monitoring.

Recording engineers need three critical things: flat, natural audio reproduction, comfort during extended wear, and gear that can stand up to the rigors of everyday use.  These headphones possess all the qualities.  Learn more about them, and get your special pricing by calling your United Visual representative or visit our website.

4.  Extron USB 2.0 Hub for Architectural Mount Applications Now Shipping.

Extron Electronics recently announced that the new USB HUB4, Four-Port USB 2.0 Hub for architectural mount applications is now shipping.  The USB HUB4 allows the sharing of up to four USB devices on a single host port and is available in two versions: AAP - Architectural Adapter Plate and MAAP - Mini Architectural Adapter Plate.  It streamlines integration by eliminating the need for separate USB Host ports and their cables, and is ideal for any environment where multiple USB devices must share a single USB port.

For integration flexibility, the USB HUB4 is equipped with both USB "Mini" Type B and captive screw host inputs.  The captive screw input is ideal for installation in lecterns, junction boxes, and other space-constrained applications.  The USB HUB4 also provides 5V, 500mA on each output, delivering power to multiple peripherals such as mass storage devices, keyboards, mice, or other HID - Human Interface Devices.  Both versions of the USB HUB4 are designed to mount easily in Cable Cubby furniture-mountable access enclosures, HSA - Hideaway Surface Access enclosures, AVTrac floor-mounted raceway for A/V connectivity, wallplates, and other products that accept a double space AAP or MAAP.

In the past we have faced the challenge of where to mount a USB hub in lecterns, A/V control desks, and other architectural applications, but the USB HUB4 provides a simple, elegant solution for USB connectivity in boardrooms, classrooms, and similar environments.

5.  Chief’s Mini RPA Elite and Mini RPA Series Projector Mounts Are Perfect For Smaller Projectors.

The new mini mounts are easy to install and almost half the size of the original RPA mounts, perfect for smaller projectors.

Chief Manufacturing recently began shipping their new line of mini projector mounts.

Chief’s new Mini RPA Elite (RSMA) is a miniature version of the popular RPA Elite (RPM) projector mount, perfect for today’s smaller projectors.  The mini mount features a newly designed universal projector interface bracket with convenient lamp and filter access, providing even faster installation and servicing of the projector.  At almost half the size of the original Elite mount, the new mini mount includes the same great features, including micro-adjustments for precise registration, Centris fingertip positioning, and Q-Lock keyed locking.  The Mini RPA Elite maintains registration when disconnected has integrated cable management and supports up to 25 lbs.

Chief will also offer a Mini RPA (RSA) projector mount, which is a miniature version of the industry-standard RPA Series.  The Mini RPA also includes the new universal interface bracket, and features independent roll, pitch and yaw as well as quick projector connect/disconnect.  The mount supports up to 25 lbs.

Chief’s new universal interface provides quick installation in three easy steps, and requires only 35% of the hardware vs. other universal designs.  The bracket provides an industry-first quick disconnect at two sites, disconnecting the bracket from the ceiling mount, and the bracket from the projector to allow unlimited lamp and filter access.

While custom interfaces are the preferred option when the projector model is known, Chief’s new universal interface together with the RPA or RPA Elite mounts combines the fast installation and lamp and filter access of custom mounts with the traditional benefits of universal mounts.

7.  Extron’s Annotator Now Shipping!

Extron recently announced the immediate availability of the Annotator, a high performance, hardware-based annotation processor for video and computer-video sources.  The Annotator features an intuitive graphical user interface that allows a presenter to draw, point, or add text to electronic presentation materials using a touchscreen and/or a keyboard and mouse.  An integrated, seven input multi-format presentation switcher supports all common analog and digital A/V signal types.  Three standard outputs are provided, including RGB, VGA, and Extron MTP - Mini Twisted Pair, with high performance scaling up to 1920x1200 and HDTV 1080p.  For ease of integration, a configurable fourth output is provided for use with optional DVI, HD-SDI, or scan converter output boards.  The Annotator is ideal for use in any A/V presentation application that requires the overlay of graphic and text elements for emphasis.

Traditional annotation systems are usually complex and involve switchers, scalers, and additional hardware.  Not this one!  The Extron Annotator simplifies system design and greatly reduces overall cost by combining switching, scaling, annotation, and image capture functions into a single product.

The Annotator employs hardware-based graphics and video processing that delivers the performance and operational reliability demanded in mission-critical applications.  For enhanced integration flexibility, the outputs of the Annotator can be configured as Preview and Program outputs, so that the presenter has full access to the annotation GUI on a local preview monitor, while at the same time the audience sees just the annotated presentation.

The Annotator can be used with popular touchscreen displays.  Two USB ports are provided to support multiple touchscreens simultaneously.  Up to 20 additional devices can be connected via USB hubs.  The Annotator features a user friendly on-screen display that provides quick access to essential annotation tools for drawing freehand or lines, adding rectangular or elliptical shapes, typing in text, pointing to objects, and highlighting any area of the presentation.  Additional annotation functions include the capability to zoom and pan within the image, freeze a live image, and save an image with annotation to a file.  So make a note to give us a call about Extron’s Annotator!
